Community Investment

The purpose of PTI Group’s Community Investment Program is to contribute to the quality of life in the communities in which we work and live.  We fundamentally believe that we have a responsibility as a good corporate citizen to be proactively involved in making a difference in the community in a meaningful way.

Current Focus of Support

Like most companies or foundations, PTI receives many more requests than we can fund.  As our resources are limited, we must make choices about how to allocate them. The most fundamental choice we have made is to concentrate the majority of our giving in areas where we believe our support can make a meaningful difference.  We also concentrate on a limited number of "focus areas" of support each year.

Currently, PTI's focus areas include:

  1. Food Programs
  2. Low Income Housing initiatives and
  3. Youth Programs

Guidelines for Support & Eligibility

PTI Group generally does not make contributions to the following applicants or for the purposes or benefit of those listed below:

  • Individuals, including PTI Group employees, friends or relatives.
  • Political or labour organizations.
  • Religious activities or programs that serve, or appear to serve, specific religious groups or denominations. However, if a proposal submitted by a church-based or similar organization falls clearly within program guidelines and is intended to serve as broad a segment of the population as the program of a comparable non-religious organization, we will consider the proposal on the same basis as others.
  • Adult recreational or athletic teams, or youth travel teams.
  • Requests by United Way agencies outside the annual United Way campaign.
  • PTI Group will not fund any organization that discriminates for any reason, including race, religion, creed, age, sex, sexual orientation and national origin.

Guidelines for Submitting Proposals

Organizations seeking PTI’s support through our Community Investment Program will be referred to the following guidelines to ensure PTI has the information necessary to adequately review the cause and provide a timely response.

Each proposal submitted to PTI Group for consideration must contain the following elements.

Proposal Requirements

  1. A brief (two-page maximum) Summary Statement of the organization's project or program needs. This overview should explain how the proposal is aligned to one or more of PTI Group’s specific focus areas of support.  It should also note the amount requested, the funding period and any key dates.
  2. The name of the organization, address, phone number and the name of a contact person familiar with proposal details.
  3. A program budget detailing the amount requested.  The request should detail all sources of financial support including amounts committed or pending that might leverage any contribution made by PTI Group.
  4. An audited financial statement for the previous year (if applicable).
  5. An overview of the percent of total functional expenses spent on fundraising, and administration costs vs. program implementation.
  6. A list of donors (United Way, corporations, foundations, individuals, government individuals and government agencies) to the overall organization, as well as a separate list of donors for the specified program to receive funding.
  7. A copy of the organization's certificate of tax exemption.
