Diavik Diamond Mines
Location: Lac de Gras, NWT, Canada
Diavik Diamond Mines’ permanent accommodations complex was built in several stages. The dormitory units were prefabricated in by PTI Travco in its Nisku, Alberta manufacturing plant. A total of 156 modules were constructed and trucked to site, where they were placed into four dormitory wings. Each wing has 3 floors and each floor has 22 rooms, creating a total of 264 dormitory rooms.
Each module’s mechanical, electrical, control, and alarm systems were completed at the factory to minimize construction time onsite. Each floor has a separate lounge area and laundry facility. Rooms contain a single bed, a desk and chair, closet space, cable TV, telephone and internet hook-up, and its own bathroom.
PTI Group’s division, Ek’Ati Services, provides ongoing camp management, catering, housekeeping, and laundry services onsite.
